Installation Methods

Solar Photovoltaic panels can be installed on your property using various methods. The most popular being an above roof fitting. Here’s a breakdown of your installation options.

Above Roof

The roof tiles are pushed up and the bracket secured to the frame of the roof beneath. The tile is then moved back into the original position. Rails are then attached to the brackets. The panels are then attached to the rails. Slate roofs are the same, but an additional specialist cover is fitted to each bracket ensuring the fixing is watertight.

Inlaid Roof

The Solar panels can also be inlaid into a roof, so they are flush with the roof tiles. This is a more expensive way of installing but delivers an overall more pleasing effect cosmetically.

For Flat Roofs

There are two methods, one which uses a bin and the other a frame. Both solutions require the weight of ballast to keep the panels in place. The systems are tested so they will not move in the highest winds.

Bin Mounted System

Frame Mounted System

Where the weight factor is an issue for a flat roof, we can use a framework to mount the panels. The frame is lighter than the bin solution and less ballast is required.
